Always start with the end in mind. The selection of the right filter for your application starts with having a good understanding of which contaminants need to be removed from your water. Suspended particles, dissolved inorganics, dissolved organics, microorganisms, etc. each of which present different challenges.
In this blog, we will be reviewing the application options available in the market, the features & benefits that come with the different types of water filter housings, along with the accessories and replacement parts.

FILTER HEAD
Standard Water Filter Housing heads are typically made from Polypropylene and have a pressure relief button. Valve-In-Head Water Filter Housing heads are typically made from Reinforced Polypropylene with an On, Off and Bypass position on the valve.
Accessories & Replacement Parts
Water Filter Housing Kits are typically available, which ensures that the proper accessories are included with the filter housing. They come complete with one O-ring installed plus one replacement O-ring, mounting bracket & hardware, and a filter bowl wrench.
All filtration systems, regardless of the manufacturer, contain parts that have a limited service life. Therefore, filters must be installed in an area where leakage will not cause property damage, and there is an adequate drain to handle the volume of water the system can produce.
Manufacturers strongly recommend that the bowl (or sump) of all plastic housings be replaced periodically: every five years for clear bowls, and every ten years for opaque bowls. If your bowl has been in use for more than the recommended period, it should be replaced immediately. Be sure to date any new or replacement bowl for future reference.
Replacement Water Filter Housing heads and bowls are available for your convenience - so, you only need to replace the part needed and not the whole water filter housing.
Now that you have a better understanding of water filter housings and how they can help solve your water quality issues - I would like to leave you with a Pro Tip: Select an opaque water filter bowl. They are more durable, less likely to crack due to over-tightening or system pressure surges and only need to be replace every ten years. Save time & money!
